The Red Dust 红尘

Marian Street Theatre for Young People

Fourteen-year-old Talia travels to the Blue Mountains covered by hóng chén 红尘—the red dust of the mortal world—to find her lost scientist mother.

Loosely based on The Red Shoes by Hans Christian Andersen, this intergenerational, interdisciplinary, and intercultural show was written by Nicole W. Lee, directed by Nate Gilkes, and included music from Nicholas Ng and choreography from Jia-Wei Zhu, with support from Ku-ring-gai Council, The Institute for Australian and Chinese Arts and Culture (IAC) at Western Sydney University, the Chinese Australian Services Society (CASS), SBW Foundation, NBS Home loans and Wahroonga Rotary.
